Prayerfully read I John 1:5-7.
If you did not read the text, take a minute or two right now and read these powerful words!
God is Light and in Him there is no darkness at all, not one bit! John, admonishes us that if we claim to have fellowship with God, we cannot walk in darkness. That means we cannot be living a double life. If we desire to have authority with God in our prayer life we must be willing to come clean with God. This is the “NO FAKE ZONE!”
To seek God for national revival, awakening and transformation without seeking Him for personal holiness is like going into combat with no weapons. Yes, we are holy because He is holy. But, His holiness must manifest, be lived out, in our lives. His holiness will be revealed in our transactions with others. We too often believe our own press about our lives. Take time in the Light of the Holy Spirit to allow Father to “search you.” Psalm 139:23 reads, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts.”
As we approach Heaven today in prayer, let’s be truthful with God about ourselves.
- Father, grant us grace to be honest in Your presence with the condition of our own souls.
- Father, search our hearts and reveal in the light of Your love anything that grieves Your Holy Spirit.
- Pray for personal revival. Ask the Father for a greater experience of His holy fire to purge and cleanse us from all that would hinder prayer.
- Pray for your family, friends, co-workers and church family to encounter God who is Light and respond to His work in their hearts.
